Sturrock Computers is a small, family-owned retailer specialising in computer systems for discerning enthusiasts. We focus on delivering top-quality products, ranging from mainstream to niche, at prices that ensure exceptional value. Our commitment to customer service is the cornerstone of our business, and we consistently strive to meet your deadlines while offering outstanding after-sales support.

SECURITY 

There is a considerable amount of misinformation regarding the safety of online shopping. Studies show that purchasing products online poses no greater risk than traditional mail order.  Throughout the collection and processing stages of your order, your details are transmitted through an encrypted connection. As a consumer, you are protected against various forms of fraud under the Consumer Credit Act of 1974.

YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS

By law, you have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 calendar days from the date you received the item. To exercise this right, you must provide us with written notice through hand delivery, post, or email, detailing the goods ordered and, if applicable, their delivery. Please label this notice as “contract cancellation.” Phone notifications will not be accepted. Keep in mind that this policy has certain limitations and does not apply to

Customised or bespoke products, such as configured PCs.

You will be responsible for the return shipping costs and ensuring the safety of the items unless we delivered the wrong item to you. The goods must be returned to the address listed on your invoice and should be in a saleable, as-new condition. Please take care to prevent any damage during transit. For your protection, we recommend using an insured recorded-delivery service, or alternatively, we can arrange a collection through our courier for a fee of £20.  

Once we receive your cancellation notice and the safe return of the items, we will process a refund for the appropriate portion of the purchase price along with the standard postage charge within 30 days. Please note that we cannot refund any priority, express build fees, or additional postage charges. By placing an order with us, you’re not just shopping; you’re diving headfirst into a sea of legal jargon that we recommend you swim through with a life jacket of patience. We encourage you to read these terms thoroughly—imagine it as your bedtime story, but with fewer dragons and more disclaimers. Oh, and don’t forget to print a copy to keep by your bedside; it’s perfect for those sleepless nights!

Remember, these terms don’t mess with your statutory rights—those are like your superhero cape that protects you in the world of consumerism. And just a friendly reminder: if you’re under 18, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to join our shopping party.

When you place an order, think of it as sending a heartfelt proposal to buy our goods, but don’t get too excited just yet! The real commitment happens only when we dispatch the goods to your doorstep. Until then, it’s all just a flirtation.

DESCRIPTION OF GOODS/WARRANTY AND LIABILITY 

While we guarantee that the Goods will match the description provided at the time of delivery, please note that all products we offer are of a technical nature, making it impractical to include detailed specifications for each item. The images, descriptions, specifications, and advertisements serve solely to give an approximate representation of the goods. Complete details can be found in the original manufacturers’ brochures and websites. Unless the Customer is classified as a consumer (as defined in the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, section 12), all other warranties, conditions, or terms regarding fitness for purpose, merchantability, or conditions of the goods—whether implied by statute, common law, or otherwise—are excluded. The Customer also confirms that they are satisfied with the suitability of the Goods for their intended purpose. Please be advised that goods are not sold on a trial basis. If you purchase goods without published technical specifications, it is your responsibility to determine their suitability for your intended use.

If a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical mistake or inaccurate pricing information from our suppliers, we reserve the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed at that incorrect price, regardless of whether the order has been confirmed.

PAYMETN METHOD

When placing your order, please ensure you provide your precise address and telephone number as registered with your credit card issuer. We can only ship to an address associated with your card for your security and ours. If the details with your issuer are incorrect or outdated, it is your responsibility to update them. We cannot accept any liability for delays or cancellations resulting from this issue.

AVAILABILITY OF PRODUCTS 

All products are subject to availability and may be removed at any time. However, our policy is to reach out to you if an item is out of stock. If you choose not to continue with the order or if we are unable to supply the product for any reason, we will arrange for the order to be canceled.

We provide a broad selection of products sourced directly from our distributors and manufacturers. These items are also subject to availability and delivery timelines determined by their respective delivery services. It is our policy to inform you about the stock and delivery status of these products. Should you decide not to proceed with the order, we will facilitate its cancellation.

DELIVERY

While we will make every reasonable effort to adhere to any specified delivery dates, the timing of delivery is not a binding commitment. We will not be held liable for any losses, costs, damages, or expenses incurred by the Customer or any other party stemming from our failure to meet estimated delivery dates.

Unless otherwise agreed, we reserve the right to deliver in installments. Any delay, default, or failure to deliver a particular installment does not grant the Customer the right to cancel the remaining parts of the Contract.

If the Customer fails to pay for any installment or delivery on time, we may withhold further deliveries, and the Customer will be responsible for any costs incurred by the Supplier related to the Goods being withheld.

Delivery of the Goods will be made to the Customer’s designated address, and it is the Customer’s responsibility to arrange for receipt of the Goods whenever they are offered for delivery.

If an incorrect address is provided to Sturrock Computers with an order, we reserve the right to charge for any additional shipping costs incurred.

Please note: If you order multiple items for delivery, we may ship them in separate packages to ensure you receive them as quickly as possible.

For deliveries handled by DPD, you may receive an estimated delivery time on the day of delivery. Keep in mind that this is only an estimate, and there may be circumstances beyond the courier’s control that prevent adherence to this estimate. In such cases, we will assist where we can; however, neither we nor our courier will be liable for any compensation due to delayed delivery.

Our couriers will require a signature upon delivery. If you opt to have your delivery left with a neighbour, we cannot be held responsible for any potential losses; therefore, we recommend accepting the delivery personally.

It is standard practice to inspect the contents for physical damage immediately after signing for them. By accepting our terms and conditions, you agree to one of the following:

If the goods show obvious damage before you sign for them (for instance, if the box is severely crushed), you will either sign for them as “damaged goods” or refuse the delivery entirely. In this case, please contact us as soon as possible for assistance.

If there is no visible damage upon delivery, but you discover damage while inspecting the contents, please contact us immediately for support. Delaying contact regarding damage may limit our ability to assist, as our couriers require us to report damage within three working days of delivery.

Time limitations for reporting delivery issues apply.

DAMAGE IN TRANSIT

If the delivered goods are damaged, you must notify us right away, and no later than three working days. It is essential to take photos as proof of the damage and to keep all packaging, as this will be necessary for your claim against the carrier. We will file a claim with the carrier and organise for the damaged items to be collected while sending replacements to you.

SHORTAGES

It is your duty to sign for the accurate number of packages indicated on the delivery or carrier’s consignment note. If you believe that items are missing from the delivery, please first verify that the order hasn’t been partially shipped. Any discrepancies must be reported to us within three days of delivery.

INCORRECT GOODS

It is your duty to inform us of any incorrect items received within two days of delivery. If the products do not match your order, please refrain from opening the manufacturer’s packaging or using the item.

NON DELIVERIES

We will not take responsibility for items lost during transit unless we receive notification within three working days from the expected delivery date. Additionally, we will not be liable for shortages, non-deliveries, incorrect items, or goods damaged upon delivery if these issues are reported outside the specified time frame. This policy applies unless extenuating circumstances have hindered timely notification.

PRODUCT GUARANTEE

This Product Guarantee is a voluntary commitment that applies to Sturrock Computers products purchased through the Sturrock Computers web shop in the UK, as detailed in these guarantee terms and conditions.

This guarantee enhances your rights beyond the legal consumer protections (such as rights concerning defects or those under the Consumer Protection Act 1987) but does not restrict these statutory rights in any manner.

In instances where your statutory consumer rights and your rights under this Product Guarantee overlap, you can opt to exercise either your statutory rights or your rights provided by this guarantee. Even if you choose to assert your rights under this Product Guarantee, you still retain the ability to invoke your statutory consumer rights at any time, provided the legal criteria are met.

Sturrock Computers ensures that the listed Sturrock Computes Products are of satisfactory quality, as defined by the Sale of Goods Act 1979, suitable for any purpose we promote, and free from defects in materials and workmanship for the applicable guarantee period from when you receive the Sturrock Computers product, in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Product Guarantee.

For any component of your Sturrock Computer product that is replaced or repaired during the guarantee period, or for any Sturrock Computer product that is replaced or repaired within the guarantee timeframe, the guarantee period will either be the remainder of the original guarantee or 30 calendar days, whichever is longer.

During the guarantee period, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund of the price of any defective Sturrock Computers product or part thereof.

It is at the reasonable discretion of Sturrock Computers whether a Sturrock Computers product or part thereof will be repaired, replaced or refunded with an equivalent or higher value Sturrock Computers product under this guarantee. This only applies to the extent that you do not have the right to choose yourself under your statutory warranty rights.

Sturrock Computers will cover the costs of repair, replacement or refund. Sturrock Computers will cover the cost of return shipping if you purchased your Sturrock Computers product directly from Sturrock Computers.

If you purchased your Sturrock Computers from an authorised Sturrock Computers dealer, Sturrock Computers will only cover the cost of returning the repaired or new part to you. The cost of returning the defective Sturrock Computers product will be borne by you.

What does this Product Guarantee cover?

Sturrock Computers assures that your Sturrock Computers product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship throughout the guarantee period.

For all certified and refurbished Sturrock Computers products, Sturrock Computers also guarantees that all components are free from defects in materials and workmanship, and that any work performed by Sturrock Computers in this regard is without flaws.

For systems where Sturrock Computers has specified a certain frames per second (measured in “fps”), Sturrock Computers guarantees that the frames per second reported by the CAM Performance Monitoring and Analysis Software (“CAM”) will not differ by more than ten percent (10%) from the promised rate.

If any Sturrock Computers product falls short of the conditions outlined in this Product Guarantee, a “guarantee case” will be established

CANCELLATION OF ORDERS RETURNS POLICY 

If you would like to cancel your order and receive a full refund, you have a total of 14 calendar days from the date of receiving your order to contact us.

Please inform us in writing (an email will suffice) if you wish to cancel your order.

You must return the items within 14 days of notifying us about the cancellation. We will process your refund within 14 days of receiving the goods, using the same payment method you used for the original order.

If you are unable to arrange the return yourself, we can organize a courier collection (available for UK addresses), but the £20 cost will be deducted from your refund. The refund will include the original delivery charge; however, if you selected a special service like Saturday delivery, you will only be refunded the standard delivery charge. 

You are responsible for any decrease in the value of the goods due to handling beyond what is necessary to ascertain their nature, characteristics, and functionality. For instance, if the handling exceeds what would typically be allowed in a store, we will deduct this amount from your refund.

 Additionally, accessories and promotional items included in your order must be returned in order to receive a full refund.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS OF ORDERS ( CUSTOMISABLE/BESPOKE PRODUCTS SUCH AS CUSTOM BUILT PCs)

When purchasing most products online, you have a legal right to change your mind within 14 days. However, this does not apply to certain items, such as customized or bespoke products made to a customer’s specifications. For custom-built PCs ordered through our online configurator or customer service, we reserve the right to impose a £100 change fee if you wish to modify your order after it has been placed. Additionally, if you decide to cancel your order, a 10% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund. It is crucial to verify that all details are correct when placing your order. If you spot any issues, please contact us as soon as possible.

PC SYSTEMS

All Sturrock Computers desktops are crafted to the highest standards, utilising the finest components available. However, we cannot ensure compatibility with every software you intend to use or all features of a specific operating system, given the vast array of customisable options. Please be aware that for our off-the-shelf systems, we reserve the right to upgrade components to superior alternatives. Rest assured, we will never replace stock components with inferior products. As is the case with most desktop PCs, using sleep mode is not recommended, as there is a risk that your PC may not resume correctly. This and other hibernation features are employed at your own risk. On overclocked machines, sleep mode may be disabled. 

DELIVERY OF SYSTEMS AND MAINTAING YOUR PC

Delivery of Systems and Maintaining your PC

While we do everything possible to make sure that your new computer system arrives in exactly the same perfect state as it leaves us in, occasionally items arrive damaged or items of an order go missing. For this reason we ask you to check the entire contents of your order as soon as possible after signing for it. In the event the courier fails to deliver a system on the scheduled date, we will in no way be responsible for any lack of earnings resulting from the delay.

Damaged items must be reported to us within 3 working days of receipt, otherwise we may not be able to assist you. In the event that your delivery is made at the weekend and you cannot contact us by phone, please send an email to Sturrock Computers with your original order ID, or name and address, giving details and we will contact you on the following Monday.

You must keep the original box and packaging (including all foam or polystyrene inserts) for your computer tower, please!

Just like any other piece of electronics equipment, a computer system tends to attract dust. You MUST make an effort to periodically check for a build up of dust, as this can cause the system to overheat, and may cause premature failure of hardware components.

If your computer is returned to us and we find a large build up of dust or other dirt inside the tower, then we reserve the right to charge for the repair costs. For this reason we suggest keeping the area your computer tower is in clean and tidy, and if you are concerned about dust build up then we suggest taking your computer to a local computer store twice a year for a hardware inspection / clean.

Tobacco smoke leaves greasy deposits on hardware components and can cause premature component failure. Excessive build ups of grime due to smoke damage (including from e-cigarettes and vaping) not covered by your warranty and we reserve the right to charge for replacement components damaged in this manner.

RETURNS

In the event that you receive a refund, please keep the following points in mind:

All refunds will be processed using the same payment method as the original order. 

Typically, a refund will appear in your credit card account within 4 working days, but please allow up to 10 working days for it to be fully credited. 

If the items are determined to be non-faulty or have been damaged due to misuse, they will be returned to you without a refund being issued. 

Any “Money Back” guarantees will be processed by the respective manufacturer, so please reach out to them directly to arrange for the return and refund.

Second Hand

When buying second-hand computers, the terms and conditions usually address important aspects such as warranties, returns, and limitations of liability. Sturrock Computer’s warranties vary based on the computer’s age and condition. Common exclusions often include damage from misuse, accidents, liquid spills, viruses, or unauthorised repairs.

SOFTWARE
Software issues, particularly those resulting from user errors or incompatible software, are frequently not covered by warranty.

BATTERIES
Regarding batteries, second-hand laptop batteries may have a shorter lifespan compared to new ones, and for this reason we do not warrant batteries.
