20 years in business
Celebrating 20 Years of Partnership!
What an extraordinary milestone—two decades of collaboration! It’s like surviving a 20-year-long game of Tetris; it took dedication and two shop relocations to bring Sturrock Computers to fruition, but we managed to fit all the pieces together, and our partnership has flourished through it all.
Throughout this journey, we’ve had plenty of learning experiences, mostly involving Derek mastering the ancient art of listening to Maureen—the one who keeps everything from spiralling into chaos ( although she is an expert at doing just that sometimes).
Derek: The talented technician and creator of gaming machines that could probably run your fridge.
Maureen: The skilled graphic artist, web designer, and manager who can turn a doodle into a masterpiece faster than you can say “Photoshop.”
What an amazing team we’ve assembled! Together, we’ve united our strengths to create a business that not only serves our community but also convinces us daily that we might actually know what we’re doing. Our customers have become like family, and their trust and support have been invaluable throughout our journey—like having a cheat code to life.
As we look back on these twenty years, we’re filled with gratitude for the friendships we’ve forged and the challenges we’ve conquered, much like a victorious boss battle. We eagerly anticipate many more years of innovation, creativity, and collaboration, and no more shop relocations.
Here’s to celebrating our past, cherishing the present, and looking forward to a bright future—preferably one with fewer coffee stains on the computer screens. Thank you for being a part of our story!
Let’s get this story going with the help of AI

This is actually an AI representation of us during our axe-throwing adventure. Yes, Derek made it out safe and sound, with only minor trauma from the supervisor who insisted on, well, supervising. Honestly, having someone hover over you does take away from the thrill of potentially losing a toe.
Our Customers Call Us Superheroes
I started working from home, and it quickly became a whirlwind. My wife said we need open a shop just so I’d remember where the front door was! Despite the chaos, we’re now celebrating 20 years in business. Who knew such a mess could lead to success? Sometimes, I think my business is like a toddler: messy but occasionally adorable (Maureen would say messy).
I have always been fascinated by computers and never imagined they’d lead to self employment joys.
HOBBIES
For hobbies, I enjoy chasing a little white ball around the golf course, pretending I’m being chased by a bear while jogging, and heroically wrestling with jigsaw puzzles that seem to have misplaced half their pieces.

I spent numerous years as a retail manager, a position that felt longer than a queue at a Black Friday sale. Eventually, I tied the knot and switched my focus to raising our daughter. Little did I know that my domestic bliss would turn into a tech takeover, with a computer business blooming in my living room. The chaos nudged me toward opening a shop-mainly because I missed seeing the carpet!
People affectionately call me the “Apple Girl” not because I am constantly munching on apples, but due to my undying love for Apple products and how they work.
HOBBIES: I have many but the ones I like the most. Reading Kindle or books happy with both (reading 2 books at the same time is normal for me).
Knitting especially styles worn by Claudia as appeared in The Traitors.
Photography either my iPhone Pro or my trusty Nikon, capturing moments before they escape or get photo bombed my the cat.
When 2 became 3
During COVID, we heard about yet another business owner wrestling with the woes of the pandemic. Stuart, of Angus Trophy (http://www.angustrophycentre.com ) was in a pickle—no sports during a pandemic is like a cat without its whiskers! Our shop, which is reminiscent of The TARDIS, had a spare room where he could squeeze in, and he’s been here ever since. It’s a bit like living in a clown car; cramped and chaotic at times, but somehow, we make it work. If you’re on a quest for the coveted Angus Trophy, prepare yourself for an epic journey—because the only portal to this legendary prize is through the doors of Sturrock Computers!
